Dundas was initiated as a Transition Town in late 2008 and became officially recognized by the Transition Network in June 2009.
A Steering Committee of nine was formed and work started to build community awareness.
Public activities in the Town were launched in early 2009 with the running of an "Ideas Contest" where residents were asked to submit ideas to improve community resiliency and drive down energy usage. 47 different submissions were received showing the interest and creativity of our local community.
In November 2009 we held a workshop to give the Steering Committee a clearer structure and plans for the future. Some members of the original Steering Committee stepped down and passed the torch to new ones. We assigned specific roles and drafted the Charter and Steering Committee Terms of Reference.
