Well, we are barely started on projects. In Transition Town terms - Transition Interest Groups, or TIGs.
This is the area where we need volunteers to step forward. Transition Town projects need to span many aspects of our lives if we are to become a more sustainable and resilient community. Projects started in other communities have also covered topics on energy, transportation, local economy, "heart and soul" and home building.
The main area of interest and activity is FOOD. We think that we have a lot to do to re-skill the community to be able to become more self sufficient in the whole chain of food, from production, processing, distribution, access in a sustainable way. See the summary notes from our Public Meeting on Food Security here.
Food security (or sovereignty as some are now calling it) is becoming of increasing interest. Groups in towns and cities around the world are re-building their local food capabilities.
Many of us have relied on the local supermarket and have not learned the skills that our grandparents possessed to “grow your own”. Click on the menu at left to see what the Food Interest Group are doing.
